Teesside University | Middlesbrough
Teesside University is seeking an experienced senior finance professional to join its Audit Committee as an External Member.
This is an opportunity to contribute your expertise to the governance of a dynamic and ambitious university with a significant economic, social and cultural impact across the Tees Valley and beyond.
Teesside is one of the UK’s most financially resilient higher education institutions. The University is debt-free, consistently operates in budget surplus and is delivering an ambitious £300m Campus Masterplan, creating world-class facilities for learning, research, innovation and collaboration.
As an External Member of the Audit Committee, you will bring independent perspective, constructive challenge and sound judgement, supporting the Committee in providing assurance to the Board of Governors across financial stewardship, risk management and internal control.
Who are we looking for?
We are particularly interested in individuals who can demonstrate:
- Senior-level experience, ideally gained within audit or finance
- Strong understanding of governance, assurance, financial stewardship and organisational risk
- The ability to interpret complex financial and risk information and provide informed, constructive challenge
- Strategic thinking and the ability to look beyond operational issues to long-term organisational resilience and sustainability
- Independence of thought, sound judgement and the confidence to ask insightful questions
- A genuine interest in higher education and commitment to equality and diversity.
You do not need to come from the higher education sector. We welcome interest from senior professionals whose experience can bring a valuable external perspective to the Committee.
