Chair of the Finance Committee

North East, England, United Kingdom (Hybrid)

North East Anti-Racism Coalition (NEARC) Finance Committee

Chair (Voluntary)

NEARC is a growing movement that came together in response to last summer’s unrest in the North East. We are a broad-based coalition united by the belief that embracing our diversity strengthens our region—economically, socially, and culturally.

With new funding secured to support our mission, we have established a Finance Committee to ensure strong financial oversight and transparent governance. We are now seeking a new member to serve as Independent Chair.

Who we’re looking for, we welcome applications from individuals who:

  • Have relevant financial qualifications or experience (e.g., accountancy, financial management, charity finance)
  • Bring lived experience of racism or deep understanding of racial justice issues
  • Are passionate about anti-racism, inclusion, and community-led change

We particularly encourage applications from people from Black, Asian, and other racially minoritised backgrounds.

Time Commitment:

  • One meeting per month (approximately one hour)
  • Occasional contact or follow-up work between meetings
  • Roles are voluntary, but out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed
  • Why Join? This is an exciting opportunity to help shape a movement committed to real, long-term change in the North East.

As a Finance Committee member, you’ll play a key role in ensuring that our resources are used effectively, ethically, and with maximum impact.
